Renato Crouzeilles has MSc. and PhD degree in Ecology from the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ). He studied part of his doctorate at the University of Queensland and at the Australian National University, under the supervision of Dr. Hugh Possingham and Dr. David Lindenmayer, respectively. He has experience in the ecology area, with an emphasis on Ecology and Restoration Landscapes, Spatial Prioritization and Conservation Biology. His work focuses on reconciling environmental management with public policies at different spatial scales to be applied into actions related to biodiversity conservation, ecological restoration and adaptive management. He is currently an associate professor at CSRio, associated to the International Institute for Sustainability (IIS) and a collaborate professor at the Graduate Program in Ecology at the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ). At CSRio he works mainly in the development of scientific research focused on spatial prioritization of large-scale restoration and global meta-analyses on the success of forest restoration.
