In this CSRio Seminar, we are honored to welcome again the Professor of Conservation Science in the Department of Zoology at the University of Cambridge, Andrew Balmford.

On his second presentation, Andrew brings a diferent perspective than his first, held in February. Titled “Reasons to be cheerful: the importance of optimism in biodiversity conservation.” Andrew will make the case that cautious but much more positive framing of conservation issues is essential. So that we can inspire and empower people to undertake crucially needed changes in their everyday lives

At this time he will be surrounded by representatives of the co-hosting institutions that will debate on how to be positive in the world of negative news: Agnieszka Latawiec (Coordinator – Sustainability Science MSc), Bernardo Strassburg (re.green), Fabio Scarano (Museum of Tomorrow), Mariela Figueredo (IIS), Rafael Loyola (IIS) and Ana Lúcia Azevedo (O Globo) will conduct a “reality check” for Brazil.
