Aline Rodrigues

Aline Rodrigues

Aline holds a Bachelor’s degree, Master’s degree and PhD in Geography and Environment at Pontifical Catholic University of Rio de Janeiro, with part of the PhD at the School of Environmental Sciences at the University of East Anglia (UK). She has experience in environmental history, historical ecology, soil science and forest restoration in the Atlantic Forest. Currently, she works in soil characterization projects and evaluation/valuation of soil ecosystem services in agricultural, livestock and forestry systems, with a special focus on soil carbon. She is a researcher at the International Institute for Sustainability (IIS) and professor at the Professional Master’s Degree in Sustainability Science at PUC-Rio. She is part of the research groups: Integrated Landscape Management (PUC-RIO), Rio Center for Conservation and Sustainability Sciences (CSRio) and the Laboratory of Biogeography and Historical Ecology (LaBEH).

Ana Paula de Lima

Ana Paula de Lima

Ana Paula has a degree in Geography from the Pontifical Catholic University of Rio de Janeiro (PUC-Rio) and holds a master’s degree in Geography and Environment from the same university. In her master’s she focused on geomorphology, analysing the gully erosion process impacts on the landscape evolution. She also has experience in payment for hydrological ecosystem services (PES) and PES monitoring and she is involved in an applied research on Nature based Solutions related to water issues. She is also a project and research assistant at the International Institute for Sustainability, supplying academic support to the Professional Masters in Sustainability Science (PUC-Rio).

Breno Drummond Valle

Graduated in Social Communication at the Escola Superior de Propaganda e Marketing do Rio de Janeiro (ESPM-Rio) and taking a Master’s degree in Sustainability Science at the Pontifícia Universidade Católica do Rio de Janeiro (PUC-Rio), Breno has extension courses in the areas of Digital Marketing and Sustainability and has been working for 5 years with digital strategies. Attended different organizations that touch on sustainability and became a contributor to e-books on waste downloaded by thousands of people and shared by different business associations in Brazil. He is currently a Scientific Journalist at the International Institute for Sustainability (IIS) and at the Centre for Conservation and Sustainability Science of Rio (CSRio), associated with PUC-Rio, supporting institutional and project communications on online and offline fronts. Furthermore, he participates in the Laboratory for Research and Extension in Environment and Society at the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (LEMAS UFRJ) and in the Laboratory of Biogeography and Historical Ecology at the Pontifical Catholic University of Rio de Janeiro (LaBEH PUC-Rio). Breno aims to contribute to building fairer and more sustainable people, organizations and communities.

Carlos Leandro Cordeiro

Bachelor degree in Biological Sciences from the Universidade Estadual do Norte Fluminense Darcy Ribeiro (2006) and Master degree in Biology (Ecology) from the National Institute of Amazonian Research (2008). Specialist in Dissemination of Science, Health and Technology at Fundação Oswaldo Cruz (Fiocruz). Doctor degree in Remote Sensing at the National Institute of Space Research (INPE). Post doctorate at UNESP in Rio Claro – SP, in the dynamic ecology laboratory focusing on biogeography studies. Has experience in the area of ​​Ecology and Environment, in research, in environmental consulting and monitoring. In education, he worked as an instructional designer, tutoring in biology and distance tutor. He is currently Professor at the Professional Master in Sustainability Science, at the Department of Geography and Environment, at the Pontifical Catholic University of Rio de Janeiro (PUC-Rio), in partnership with CSRio and SIG analyst at the International Institute for Sustainability (IIS).

Eduardo Lacerda

Eduardo has a B.A. in geography from the the Rio de Janeiro State University, a masters’ degree in Geography from the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro and he is currently a PhD candidate in Geography at the Fluminense Federal University. He has experience in orbital image processing in high-performance computing environments focused on the analysis of time series data. He has already worked on projects in the area of remote sensing and GIS, and implementing and managing spatial databases. He is currently a modeling analyst at the International Institute for Sustainability (IIS).

Eric has a BSc. in Environmental Sciences at Universidade Federal do Estado do Rio de Janeiro (UNIRIO) and he is a MSc. candidate in Cartographic Engineering at Instituto Militar de Engenharia (IME). His interests include GIS applied to spatial prioritisation, biostatistics and data modelling. He is currently a SIG analyst at the International Institute for Sustainability (IIS).

Fernanda Gomes

Fernanda holds a Masters degree in Marketing Communications from the University of Westminster in England, a BA in Social Communication from UTP-PR, a Bachelor in Graphic Design from UFPR and is currently pursuing a Bachelor degree in Biological Sciences from UFRJ. She worked in communication agencies and marketing communication departments of large companies and non-governmental organizations in Brazil and abroad. She was an intern in the Laboratory of Vertebrates – Department of Ecology of UFRJ, researching about fauna conservation in Agroforestry Systems. Her role in CSRio includes developing communication strategies for scientific dissemination, sensitization of decision makers and implementation of conservation projects with communities – specifically focused on awareness and behavior change of the various actors.

Fernanda Tubenchlak

Fernanda Tubenchlak is a biologist and holds a master’s degree in Ecology from the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ). She has studied Environmental Sciences at the University of East Anglia (UK) for one year of through Science without Borders program, as part of her undergraduate degree. During her masters, she has focused in Forest Landscape Restoration and investigated the role of agroforestry in restoration processes in the Atlantic Forest. Fernanda has been working at the International Institute for Sustainability (IIS) since 2016 and has experience in interdisciplinary projects related to biodiversity conservation, forest restoration, agroecology, environmental education, and sustainable development.

Ingrid Pena

Ingrid is a PhD candidate in Geography and Environment at the Pontifical Catholic University of Rio de Janeiro (PUC-Rio), conducting a research on how ecosystem services are considered in decision making. She holds a master’s degree in Territorial Development and Public Policy from the Federal Rural University of Rio de Janeiro (UFRRJ). She also attended a graduate course in Environmental Management from the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ) & UNEP Brazil Institute, holds a BA. in Tourism from the State University of Rio de Janeiro (UNIRIO) and is currently pursuing a degree in Biological Sciences at UFRJ. She has experience in socio-environmental education, consulting and research. She currently works at International Institute for Sustainability (IIS) as a project and research assistant. She is part of CSRio-PUC-Rio and the research groups Integrated Landscape Management (PUC-RIO), Tourism and Society (UNIRIO) and Interinstitutional Study Group on Ecosystem Services (PUC-Rio).

Joana Krieger

Joana holds a degree in Chemical Engineering from the Pontifical Catholic University of Rio de Janeiro (PUC-Rio) and a master’s in Sustainable Development Practices from the Federal Rural University of Rio de Janeiro (UFRRJ). In the private sector, she acquired experience with stakeholder engagement, proposals, data collection, systematization and analysis, environmental reports and project management. Later, her experience was extended to computer modelling of environmental systems with a focus on microclimatology in rural areas. She currently works at International Institute for Sustainability (IIS) as a project and research assistant.

Katarzyna Anna Korys

Katarzyna has a degree in Environmental Engineering and a MSc. degree in Environmental Protection, with specialization in soil conservation, degraded soil recovery and environmental chemistry. She completed her MSc at Wroclaw University of Environmental and Life Sciences (Poland), and also participated in the Erasmus program at Università degli Studi di Bari (Italy).  The main subject of her interest became an impact of environmental pollution on human health, especially issues related to contaminated food. At CSRio and at the International Institute for Sustainability (IIS), Katarzyna works as research assistant, providing a support within a range of projects including the potential benefits of biochar in organic agriculture. She also conducts research on renewable energy.
